Hello,
I have had mustard algea, I was told by the local pool chemical store to drain the pool and wash it with bleach solution. I did so (also washing all accesories and replacing filter).
So, after we had LOTS of rain, I notice it start to come back. There is really not much though. Is there an easy (and cost efficient) way to get rid of it?
Thanks,
Ryan
PS: The pool is an intex easy set (about 15 foot by 3.5 foot or so)
Update:I changed filter from the old one (which was probably infested with algae!)

I had this same problem. You need to get algaecide that has copper in it. Copper kills Mustard algae. Check with your pool store and see if they have it and verify it is safe for your type of pool. All you gotta do then is scrub the pool. Pour in the algaecide, wait a couple of days, then scrub again, shock and then vacuum on waste. That will solve your problem. I feel for ya. Mustard algae blows ***, but it can be gotten rid of.
Couple things. Algaecide is a good solution, but you do not necessarily need copper based. That can stain the pool. Get algaecide specifically for "Yellow" or "Mustard" algae and follow directions. If you do anything - brush your pool. Without brushing often (which removes the film formed by the algae to protect itself) most products will fail. Run your filter more than usual as well.
Before you waste any more time or money, go straight to http://appliancequickfix.com/ - the have one great page on pool water maintenance.
why don't you buy a filter.
