i tried everything but it just can't read it at all, i have vista. But when i plug it into the usb port it wont read it, but the mic works cuz i use the same mic for rock band and it works when i play..help?

I have tried like everying, all the audio stuff is fine, i used it on friday but all of a sudden on saturday when i plug it in, u know how when u plug something into the usb port it makes the sound and shows that something is plugged in, everytime i plug it in nothing happens and it is no where to be found, i tried all the different ports and it won't work, and when i plug other things in the ports it works so it seems to be just the microphone, please help!!!
