This Nikon is a fine entry-level point and shoot still camera that happens to take highly compressed video. You get what you pay for. If you truly want/need "top sound quality" as you say, the tiny built-in mic will not do what you want. And if you are planning to capture loud audio, lack of manual audio controls will result in muddy, useless, audio. There are many reasons camcorders, that are designed to capture video, have mic jacks and manual audio and lots of controls specific to capturing video... and typically, they do a poor job of taking stills (where this camera would do a fine job).
