I have some friends there - just normal, sincere people.
If the UK/US moves in there, I know the country is finished.
I am not involved in politics and have no religious motives - just concerned about people who treated me great.

I would venture a guess of 6 mos. Of course, there is no way to predict these things. My answer is based on history of recent rebellions.
Syria as a land mass of a country/nation/republic can last for as long as it WANTS TO
, however , its political system may change.
The first concern is that its leadership is not playing nice to its own people.
When ruling governments do that, there are consequences
It is the consequences that I worry about. You just cannot keep on going shooting at your own citizens
first of all this has nothing to do with oil syria actually ranks only 32 in world oil production
this has more to do with regime change and leaving iran encircled
second if it actually comes to the usa uk france ect moving in then there would be a minimal chance of your friends been hurt unless they are fighting or they live close to a strategic target
That will depend very much on whether they have viable oil reserves or not. Civil rights abuses and crimes against humanity are only given lip service in countries that are not in a position to supply the US with oil or narcotics. They are positvely overlooked in countries that the US regard as "trading partners" such as China.
