Compatible engines for 1990 Toyota pickup 3.0 ?
the engine I have now has a knocking sound. I took valve covers off and every thing seem to be tight. I was told it might be a rod but it doesn't sound deep enough (low pitch) to be a rod. What is it?

the transmission is bad check it
You can interchange both engines in the Toyota Trucks. The motor mounts need changed to make the 6 cyl. mount up in the 4 cyl. bay. All he needs to do is buy the motor mounts from his local parts store. He will need the wiring harness, ecu and trans.
