2nd RAM slot for Compaq Presario R3479EA?
All the information I can find says that there are two upgradable slots for ram, each already containing 256MB total 512.
But when I open up the memory panel, there is only one slot, anyone know where the second is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :0)

Both slots should be in the memory panel. If you only have one slot, you may want to contact HP. Either you have a "counterfeit" system, or a defective board that got through QC. Even their own data sheet says that model should have two slots:
