I'm an amateur photographer and I try not to spend my money and this year i want to buy my first dslr canon eos 1100d with the kit lens and i also want to go a 7 day trip to london with my foreign language school. I'm not sure if i can afford both of them. if i can then there's no problem but if i have to choose one i don't know which one. I went to london again with my foreign language school 3 months ago and i want to go again. i also have a compact camera, the sony dsc h90.. what should i do?

I too used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure.
Easy decision - A 7 day trip is ephemeral; a camera will give you pleasure for years.
Buy the camera!
Nobody can take away your good memories of an enjoyable trip to London. Camera can break or get stolen. Maybe check out Sony A37 in Jessops when in London?
the answer is up to you.
if im am you,
i will buy a dslr, 1100d, if you are just photographing things and dont care about video. a good choice.
trip to london - 7 day happiness
1100D - lifetime happiness (depends if it broke)
That's down to you - how the hell should we know?? If you want a trip, then go on a trip. If you want a DSLR then buy the camera!
Sheesh!
