Hello there. I have a rather strange problem. So i have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop with a broken screen. I found a new one. Connected it and turning the laptop on makes the screen display a solid red colour and nothing else. I opted to try with other known working displays. The same: some didn't turn on, some displayed only white. I thought the problem must be with the LVDS cable and i got a working one: the same thing. Connecting it to external monitor works just fine. What could be the problem?

"You must replace the screen with an identical one, by part number on the screen, not just the model of laptop. Sometimes the production of a model of a laptop has hardware changes that are not compatible across the entire history of output."
yeah i will also suggest you the same, but still if you are facing any problem you can contact to some computer expert.Fujitsu Siemens laptop center,click4support they can provide you good solution.
The previous answer that mentioned that even if two laptops are the same make/model they could be assembled with different parts is quite right.Otherwise if it's not a mboard connector or bad solder connection and all the cables are okay any boards between the panel cable and mboard could be at fault.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way the new/used panel you bought could be faulty.
I think the problems lies in loose cables. Open the laptop and make sure display cables are properly connected from motherboard to laptop's screen
id have to say possible incompatible parts, or a faulty lcd.... but also could be a bad inverter board... but i would guess better if i could see you issue... do you have pics.. repost your question if you have images and more details on the problem... along with model number.. series..etc.
But i have also encountered the red screen issue before... my fix for my red screen was to replace the mother board as it was the cause.
good luck
If external output shows working display VGA socket then you know that drives and graphic chip is ok.Thats mean that laptop screen is faulty or you have got wrong screen....
