Based on your grammar, it is obvious that this company is Wal-Mart. They only hire the best of the best.
(1) I agree that your writing skills reflect poorly on your abilities, even if you are smart & ambitious.
(2) I also agree that "a multi billion dollar" company means jack in the context of your question. In particular, millions of hourly employees work for billion dollar companies: WalMart, McDonald's, Target, 7 Eleven, Kroger, Starbucks, Home Depot, etc.... Hourly employees are the paper towels of the work world: even the best are disposable without much thought or expense.
(3) The short answer to your question is that you more than likely missed the point of your hire: you were likely added to a pool of potential workers. No potential, employment terminated.
Ask yourself this question: how much money did the company spend on you to date? If the answer is very little to nothing, then they received the potential of a workforce expansion for free.
(4) You may also wish to consider that a the lowest levels of employment you also tend to find the lowest levels of manager competence & experience. It is entirely possible that someone made a mistake. It happens in the best of companies.
