Acid reflux happens for many reasons, the most common is when your stomach doesn't break down foods properly and they start to ferment in your stomach. The sphincter muscle at the top of your stomach opens, and some of the acidic contents of your stomach go up into your oesophagus. This is what causes teh burning feeling.
To help prevent acid reflux, have some bitters before eating - Swedish bitters, or a mix of the herbs gentian and ginger; 15-20 minutes before eating. This will stimulate your digestive system so that it deals with food properly.
Other reasons you may have acid reflux include hiatus hernia (where the sphincter muscle at the top of the stomach has moved up to above the diaphragm) or from overweight.
Don't force yourself to eat if you are not hungry. That puts pressure on the stomach, and increases acid reflux. If your appetite is low, have bitter foods or drinks like grapefruit, rocket, endive, anything that tastes bitter. This will make you hungry, and you will deal with the food appropriately.
I hope this helps.

Lighten up on the spicy foods for awhile. Go to the store and get you some Pepcids, take two pills three times a day for 10 days.
That helps repair your innards.
Take it easy on the spicy foods. Give your stomach a chance to get better. Call the Doctor back and keep them up to date on your present condition.
