Hello All......
We are looking to relocate to a city in California along the Central Coast. Some factors we are considering are:
1. Jobs (however commute is not a significant issue, therefore we can commute to employment)
2. Low Crime. We understand Crime is everywhere, however it is reasonable to consider a city where crime isn't as rampid or on a steady increase.
3. Low cost of homes. With the housing crunch and foreclosures, more homes are becoming available at lower prices, which makes this criteria more realistic "now" than it was 5-years ago. There is a steady drop in prices of homes.
4. Good place to raise children. Decent schools.
We would like to stay along the Central Coast "instead" of Central Valley due to the poor air quality and rise in Gang activity within the Central Valley, but mainly because of the poor air quality.
Any and all ideas and help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

There are no real jobs along the Central Coast. The closest thing to a populated area would be Santa Cruz. But, there is high crime, gangs and bad schools there. If your children do not speak Spanish they will have a hard time fitting in.
another significant correction to the lengthy post... The political diagnosis feels like some thing from the Nineteen Eighties (even as the North continually supported the Democrats and the South supported the GOP consistantly). it truly is now no longer real. that's a some distance more effective complicated problem at the moment. L.A. itself has develop right into a Democratic stronghold. So, Angelenos (who voted for both Al Gore and John Kerry by making use of a 2 to at least a million margin) may in all likelihood no longer appreciate being observed as the capital of the state's "conservative" wing. besides the actual undeniable truth that that's actually real that a lot of a few thing of Southern California continues to be Republican, those numbers are starting up to expose as a results of immigration pressures, white flight, etc. The Democrats gained Santa Barbara County outright in 2000/2004, and San Diego isn't as straight forward for the GOP because it develop into once. in the intervening time, suburban and rural Northern California has more effective or a lot less ditched the Democrats -- with in straight forward words the city center (San Francisco County, Alameda County, etc.) outstanding firmly in Democratic palms. The Monterey region is now in straight forward words very weakly aligned with the Democrats, and the Sacramento Valley has already lengthy gone GOP.
Move to Seattle..
