Put up a fence and DON'T shave his hair. It helps keep them cooler in summer as well as warmer in winter.
1 - research the breed. You can KILL a Mal by shaving it. They can get heatstroke and even pheonmoia.
2 - Mals live in Texas all the time, one of the better breeders is in Tx. They can do fine with an owner that has a brain and knowledge of the breed.
3 - NEVER let a Mal off leash, especially in the woods. They are prey driven and take off after the prey.
well i think with some good training your new dog will be fine, first you will have to start with obedience and then work your way up. when you start you should use a long leash so if your dog would try to run you could stop him. i trained my dogs to walk outside with out a leash the same way. i have 1 lab, 1 german sheperd, 1 collie, and 1 jack russell terrier.
bit slack....
how would you like to wear snow gear all day in texas heat
