I have always been an AMD person, but I am looking into building my own computer and I am wondering which processor to buy.
I am planning on buying an ATI graphics card, and I am wondering if either processor works better with one or the other. I have found that AMD processors are generally cheaper, but is this always true or is this just because of the sites I looked on. I have mainly used newegg and circuitcity.com. I want to buy a quadcore processor.
So my question is.... should I buy an AMD or Intel Quad Core Processor. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

unless you are going to be multi-tasking a lot or doing video editing you dont need a quad. i am also an AMD person, but Intel makes better quads. processors also dont card what GPU you are using, so put in an ATI 4870. best card for the money right now...
An AMD Phenom is comparable to a Core 2 Quad. However, AMD does not have a processor that competes with Intel's Core 2 Extreme.
