You can go at any time during your pregnancy. Check with the people presenting the courses for their schedule.
I finished mine 12 days before going in to hospital. When waiting so late, remember there is a chance that you may go into labor early and end up missing the last class/es.
I must add, that I am having a C-section so mine was pretty safe.
There are people that attended my group that are only due in August.
It's up to you, but generally people start attending from about 25 weeks so they're sure to attend all the classes.
Hi Im 35 weeks pregnant and started my classes at 32 weeks, to be honest I thought mine were a complete waste of time.
I thought it would be about breathing techniques and maybe watching a birthing video etc, but none of that mine involved getting into two groups every week and discuss what our hopes and fears for the birth were also other names for things such as the womb... we did talk about the labour but not in a lot of detail before i went to the classes I wasn't concerned about the labour just thought well she has to come out one way or another so ill deal with it when i have to, but our midwife really scared me she went on about how terrible labour is and how labour last a minimum of 16 hours!
This week was about breast feeding but i'm not breastfeeding so i didn't bother going as i'm sure would of been just as much of a waste of time as the previous weeks...and when they asked the group who was and wasn't breastfeeding they come down hard on the ones that decide not to.
Good luck and hope they are better than mine were.... If you do go and have the same sort of experience i would just take whatever they say with a pinch of salt and don't let them scare you like they did me.
I went to an early preg class when I was 17 wks at the maternity hospital, I am now 26w5ds and waiting on my invitation to the antenatal classes I think you get them when your about 30-31 wks or so really not sure but it's late on in the pregnancy
im 35 weeks i got a letter inviting me to attend anti natal classes a couple of weeks ago im in surrey so i don't know if its different for each county
i go at 31 weeks, 6th may . your midwife should book it for you, mine put me on all the classes parent craft, aromatherapy and breastfeeding. i live in west midlands but i assume its the same anywhere else.
