I'm going to buy a compressor pretty soon, thinking about getting a ''portacable'' 150psi 6 gallon tank compressor.
Iv used portacable's on nailer's and i know they can take allot of abuse like all day none stop abuse.
My question is how good are these smaller compressors with impact wrenches?
Is a 150psi powerful enough to work on a late 90s era car?
Can 150psi handle a front wheel drive axel nut with the right impact wrench?
I have low funds ,portacable looks good from a price point of view.

Impact tools work with continuous pressure at set foot poundage. The pressure will soon diminish due to lack of volume using a pancake compressor. The volume of air ( at 150 psi ) in a 6 gallon tank will fall rapidly upon use. This makes loosening a stubborn nut almost impossible. A good option is to buy used air compressor with at least a 30 gallon tank. 150 psi is enough pressure providing you have the volume in reserve.
You will need to find out the cfm rating for the compressor and for the tools you want to use. Then get a compressor that is capable of producing a little bit more air then the most demanding tool you will use with it.
i have a pancake compressor that gets to 135#,i have a cheap impact wrench,,i used it with NO problems getting a tire off my trk that was put on at the dealer sooo take it from there
the cfm is not enough, youll have to use the impacts in short bursts.
