I am prior service getting into the Army, and get my choice of station. I am trying to choose between Germany (anywhere in germany), Hawaii, or Presidio in Monterrey, CA.
Worked in Honolulu a lot in the 90's. Can be tough being confined to the Island for some. You could be fine too. Just make sure you don't get 4th brigade, I think that is the A/B unit in Alaska.
I am 120 miles from Monterey. You are sooo close to many things, food, outdoors, oh my.
hawaii is neat i was there 5 years and it was neat. you get paid enough and live on base its nice and since you are in army will be at fort shafter its pretty there and hosing is nice.

Hey Troop!
Go to Germany!
I'm not sure what its like now but I was stationed at Rivers Barracks Geissen with 42nd bde in the 80's.
I cannot imagine nicer people than the Germans.
Wonderful times, great sceneary and archtecture, music etc.
Plus you are in the hub of central Europe accruing 5 days leave every two months.
You can hop a train and be in Paris, Milan, Barcelona or wherever.
You will bring those great memories home with you too.
Whatever you do, do not be a barracks bum and stay on post.
Get out there and see it all.
Good luck and thanks for serving!

Good Luck, I would be happy in any of them.
