I read in some cultural book that white male/asian female marriages are popular and widely accepted in asian culture. But asian male/white female (or any pretty much other race) are looked down upon...
Is this true? is this relevant to only the older generation or do young adults feel this way? Is it because people don't think nonasian wives will make good wives compared to an asian wife?

In old custom, the wife marries into the husband's family. Name, customs, religion, the whole ball of yarn. If your husband's family is old-fashioned like mine, they take this seriously. But no culture lays everything out for you like an open book. So it can be difficult knowing the right thing to do or say, and this can reflect badly on the wife. And a lot of women are just not ready or able to change something as ingrained as cultural or religious beliefs, even for love.
Of course this is pretty much all in the older generations. Among the younger folks you only get the few stupid ones with the old "stealing our men" nonsense. 10 years ago I heard a lot of racial slurs, but now For the most part among young and old alike people are pretty accepting.
well the Asian males are supposed to carry out their culture (or way of life)/carry on the next generation of his family/heritage/culture
and as for the Asian females they carry out their husbands culture (or both of their cultures)
i think that probably only the older generation thinks that non-Asian wives wouldn't make a good wife compared to an Asian wives because of cultural differences but as for the younger generation I'd say that they're more flexible or less judgmental about marrying an Asian girl or a non-Asian girl
I haven't heard that asian male/white female marriages were looked down upon, but if they are, I wouldn't know why. I guess it could be true in some circumstances.
But I do know that about 75% of white/asian marriages in America consist of an asian wife and white husband.
I stayed in Tucson, AZ briefly and there were so many men who were in the military who had Asian wives that they brought back from overseas, it was common and no one gave a care.
My husband is Korean, only his mother had issues at first when we started dating( I'm Black). For some reason the fact that my mother is White eased her mind a little( she didn't know for 6 months), she still hasn't given me a reason as to why this is so. My husband later told me that she was afraid that a "non-Korean" woman wouldn't make a good wife for him, but she's over that now.
I think that more applies to older generations and not so much more the younger Gens.
I see sooo many interracial couples and I don't see anything wrong with it. A lot of cute mixed babies. Eventually, it's going to be a mixed world, if it hasn't already.
yehh the white guy with asian chick is more common but not vice versa
vietnam was that reason since white chick soldiers didnt exist so therfore no asian guy to bring back home aye
but its funny coz most of those white guys nowadays r complete nerds

Asian males are probably suppose to further their culture by only marrying asians. women not so much so
Well I don't know exactly the right answer... but I can say another type of example that can be of some help....well...My grandfather [not a white guy btw, lol] fought in the vietnam/korean war [either one, i dunno] ..and got with a korean woman.. Them being together was accepted in her family and culture, so much so that she moved to America with him...So i don't know why, but I hope I helped.

well ever since vietnam it seemed like the white men bringing home asian women sky rocketed and it is now accepted here as common. I have not seen alot of white women with asian men and though it is accepted here in the U.S. its still not an everyday occurrence. I see alot of asian females with various races of men here and as far as asian countries goes I don't think it is acceptable in places like China, Japan and North/South Korea.
i, an asian female, am dating a white (technically jewish) male.
i think its the other way around. most female asians are not looking to date an asian male. i couldn't say why.
