I have heard that we have to be aware of our mind and body. But wont that lead to self conciousness. In my case, when I am alone, I enjoy awareness. I feel refreshed when I am aware. But when in public, like when I talk to my friend or audience, awareness doesnt help. Words wont come out naturally and it leads to self conciousness. So I decided not to be aware of my body and mind in public. That too doesnt help even though I dont stammer during speech. I have no control over my actions and talk....please help...I am very much confused.....because of this I am having much difficulty in maintaining relationships

You should be aware of your thoughts and body but like anything it can go to extremes. It can be almost a prison in your own mind though if you are aware of every little thing you say or do. I am the same way with being very self conscious that I even cared about what kind of water bottle I bring with me and what people will think of it. :(
I would start by redirecting your focus on the other person in whatever environment you are in and practice being a good listener. It may help you forget about yourself. Have deep conversations with others and listen to them talk about their problems or life.
Also start making an affirmation such as:
"I am in total control of my self-awareness."
"I am free to choose the direction of my life."
"I maintain good and healthy relationships."
"I forget about myself when I am around others."
