Best HD compact digital camera to take on a trip to Paris/London?

Alright, so I finally got accepted to go on a trip to Paris/London with an acting group in my town. I'm so excited! And I really want a camera to capture everything! I'm willing to spend a max of $250.

I of course plan on taking pictures of everything, especially landmarks.

It'd be great if it was HD, long battery life, somewhat compact, fast (on start-up, taking pictures), and took great pictures of people and places during the day, night, indoor, and outdoor.

I've been scouring the internet for hours trying to find one,and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

Rogue Claims Adjuster

I bought a Sony Cyber-shot 16.2 megapixel camera last year for a trip to London and I liked it so much I'm selling my bulky SLR camera.

It shoots great, takes full HD 1920x1080 video, and really amazing pictures in low light without a flash (like across the river at night).

Might be a little pricey at $329 (BestBuy.com) but it's worth the price. You might be able to pick up a used on online for a little less.
