I am part of a team in school that deals with getting students more involved with issues in tthe community. There are 10 in the team. A week ago we were planning on picking a chairperson and one person got voted as it but we did it at lunch and most didnt want to vote there and then but we did. The person who got voted even said he wanted to wait for voting when were all set on doing it after he got picked. Now a week later we did it and I was put in the running for chairperson too (I wasnt last week) I got picked as chairperson and the person that was picked went in a huff..... there was one person in the team missing but we told him we cant wait and he chose to skip it.. The votes were Me- 5 The person who was picked 3 and another person 1 so even if the person who was out came in and picked him he would have 4 and and id still get it.... but thats not the point hes in a huff and he wants to talk to the "support teacher" about the dilemma, and hes talking about it to other members in the group saying its unfair and all that...... I'm wondering what can I do... I want to sort it out tomorow and i had a few ideas one where we all talk one at a time and get stuff off our chest... and i was planning on giving him the chairperson role because he was voted first but the secetary of the team said shell leave the team saying he cant get everything he wants if he huffs about it...... What can I do please give me ideas!!!! Thanks in advance :)

As for your team, you need to get some proper procedures in place for matters such as this. You have make an unholy mess of this.
First, you want to convene a full meeting to thrash out the matter. I would suggest a neutral person to chair it - the support teacher would seem to me a good choice. Then, declare all previous votings null and void. Everyone has a chance to say what they think - but not to be used as an excuse to insult or slander anyone. This is where a competent and strong chairperson is important.
Then, have a full, properly conducted vote, everyone being clear that this is the final and decisive result. If there should be a tie, then the person with fewest votes drops out, and you have another round of voting, and so on, until you have a clear winner. Then stop messing around with childish issues like who should chair, and get on with your true purpose. You're not helping anyone whilst tying yourselves in knots over trivial internal matters.
