If I want to study Medicine but not practice it (I want to get into research), can I take up a Bachelor's in Biomedical Science, then continue on to Masters, and PhD? Would that be a possible path or should I practice even if I only want to do research? Thanks.

Yes, that is a good choice for going into the medical field for research. Many colleges offer degrees in biomedical fields. You don't really need a PhD; I would wait to decide after receiving a Masters (which you will need to get a good job in the field) and trying to get a job. See how far you can get without one, and then go back if necessary.
