My cat went missing in our house last weekend, we searched everywhere, literally tore the house apart and couldn't find her for about 8 hours. Finally we heard her meowing and she was in a room where I had looked earlier. We're not sure how she was able to hide but since then she has been acting very strange. She is on edge and she doesn't make a sound which is odd for her because she meows almost constantly for no reason even if she is getting attention and has food and water. So I want to know if anyone has any experience with this and what we should do. She is still eating and drinking normally but acting weird. I think she may have gotten stuck in something and it scared her.

Yes, that's entirely possible. I've known three cats that have had "bad experiences" that really changed their behaviors. In two cases they eventually went back to normal but in once case the cat was changed for good.
I'm not sure they can have "mental shock", but they can definitely get stressed. Try to calm her down, pet her, brush her, give her treats, and give her lots of attention. If she rejects you, give her some space but stay near her at all times-- she might be scared to be alone.
Of course, they have ways of coping with certain situations the same as we do.
