Hi, I have an IBM ThinkPad R50 with Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3 on it. It runs pretty well but I was wondering if I could try Windows 7 32 bit on it, with slipstreaming if possible. It has a Pentium M, 1.25 GB of RAM and a 40 GB hard drive. I tried the upgrade advisor, but that didn't even WORK, so that's not very promising. Do you know if Aero will work? I doubt it because it has an ATi Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32 MB of VRAM, and I don't really think it's worth it to put 7 on there without Aero because even though I don't really care about the eyecandy, you need Aero to use Aero Peek and Aero Flip which I kinda like.
Thanks.
Update:Thanks for the responses. I think I'll just try it to see what happens, but I will most likely go back to XP because I got the upgrade advisor to work but it said it can't run Aero and the graphics card drivers won't even be compatible, so that's kinda dumb, but oh well, I kinda like XP better than 7 anyway. I use this laptop for typing and light web surfing, so I'll probably either stick with XP or put Mint on here.

Your Computer cannot run Windows 7. If you upgraded your RAM to 2 GB then possibly but you would also need a graphics card capable of Direct X 9.0 for the Aero feature. You might also want to upgrade your Hard drive as the installation of Windows 7 itself take 20 GB.
You can run Win 7 (barely) but there will be no Aero features and getting drivers may be difficult.
Find the drivers first, if they're available, then install.âº
