Can someone like a doctor who comes from a poorer background lose their job if they disclose in their memoir that they sold drugs but were never caught and thus never convicted?
P.S. I'm not selling drugs, just curious about employment and personal life limits and stories.

It would be possible, yes. Depending on the conditions of employment, how well-liked and competent the person was, and whether they had shown a pattern of disturbing behavior. For example, if someone has it out for you at your workplace and they found out about this, they could use it as shock value to your employers for your dismissal.
Yes, You can be fired for anything, at any time.
There are really two questions here. Can the licensing authority take any action against his license to practice medicine? Can his employer fire him for "prior bad acts"?
License is probably safe, as long as the statute of limitations has expired on the crimes. Job ... could be in danger! If the health provider the doctor works for starts getting hit with negative publicity because of the revelations in the book, the docotr could be fired for "actions that damaged the good reputation of the company".
Yes
Depends if they were still working when they released said information. If they are still working then yes, the probably will and should. If no, then maybe a criminal investigation.
