I need to rent a car, but I was told you need 2 credit cards. I don't have any credit cards, nor did I think I needed any; well, until now. I think credit cards are worst than loan-sharks. But anyway does anyone have any information on car rental places that don't require credit cards. I have numerous debit cards.

I checked with some car rental companies:
Dollar,Hertz,Budget and Avis all stated that they accepted debit cards (with the Visa or Mastercard Logo) for Credit Id at the beginning of the rental. They must be debit cards associated with your bank account, not a one-time use card or store card.
On the Thrifty and Enterprise website it said that some locations accept debit cards, but required you to call the location directly to determine its' policy.
If a car rental company accepts a debit card, it is standard that you would have to have the full amount of the rental available as well as a deposit (which varies by company). Most car rental companies require a credit check when you use a debit card as well.
Hope this helps.
Below is a quote from a vehicle rentals website.
Q: What payments do you accept?
A: We accept payment by Debit Card or Credit Card only.
So they accept Debit Cards. They offer:
vehicle rentals
van rental
minibus rental
and much more .....
they only charge you intrest if dont pay the off each month, then it is zero. you need a card now days for lots of things. if you have good credit go to your bank and get one tommorrow. usually one is all you need for rental. also you can go to one of those car rrental places that rent older cars, you might work something out with them.
