Compaq presario 5000?
the thing is is when i turn on the pc the screen stays black no beep or nothing. I've checked all the hardware and it all works fine.then i took the cmos out for about 5 min,then put it back it the pc and still the screen is black.so i'm thinking, could this pc need a new bios chip or and up grade,i can't get even get into the bios ,and by the way the model of the pc 5002us.So can any one tell me what the problem could be?

the motherboard? When you say all the hardware works fine,
you mean the hard disk is rotating, cooling fans are
working, etc?
Is the display OK? Do you have another PC you can check
it on? Does the display show the diagnostic signal
(without the PC connected)? Is the cable plugged in
properly? Are any pins bent? ...
