I recommend switching to Linux instead of installing MS Windows. It is free and free of viruses. So even if files are infected they wont actually run.You can easily try a live Linux CD so you can see what it is like without installing to see if it meets your needs. If this interests you I can post a lot more information.
CrunchBang Linux is a really good one if your computer is slower, and Ultimate Linux if you have a newer computer. There are even versions of Linux you can use to clean your Windows PC with. Let me know if you need help choosing a Linux version or have questions.
Don't do that! go to http://gundament.com/ I will fix it for free! Chances are you have more than 1 virus!
I bet I could restore your computer completely without loosing everything.
If you really want to delete EVERYTHING you could format the drive and buy an XP boot disk.
BUT WAIT! before you do that try system restore!
System restore restores your computer to the way it was in previous days. It is an ok option but it doesnt always solve your problem.
A very good option is to do a system recovery. there may be a built in recovery system on your computer already! It will restore your computer to how it was the day you bought it.
Please! If you have any questions about what I have said email me at [email protected] I love fixing computers for free!
You'd probably be better off buying a new computer.
If you torrent XP you can't update it because if you hit a certain update on the list, Windows recognizes your OS as a copy and it will become totally effed again.
If you are going to reinstall XP, just buy a disk. It's fairly cheap now that Vista and 7 are out.
You may still have hope to do a clean install of Windows even if you lost your disks. Most computers now come with what is called a recovery partition. This is an isolated set of files that sits on your hard drive. This is like a Windows CD (plus drivers and software) built into your hard drive. How you access this partition depends on your computer manufacturer. Edit your question with your computer manufacturer and the model number and I can determine if your computer has a recovery partition and if it does how to access it.
When you bought your computer, did you get any recovery/reinstall discs?
Without those your out of luck as far as doing a clean install of XP.
If you do have discs, before you go and reformat your hard drive make sure they will do a clean install and that their not simply recovery/repair discs.
If it's an older computer, you should have gotten reinstall discs. They stopped doing that nowadays, at least at Best Buy.
Unfortunately if it is not a newer computer, you will need the start up disc. There are several different drivers and things your computer will need. The good news is you can usually contact the manufacturer and get a replacement boot up disc for free.
Take it to a PC repair shop- they'll wipe the hard drive and reinstall XP.
you don't need to get a new computer buy Norton anti virus disk if u really need to install it and it should go a Lil faster or have a guy from geek squad look at it
go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com and buy a brand new harddrive for $30. find a friend who has a XP install disk.
You need a disk. Download one torremnt.
