dropped my desktop. The processor fan and chip assembly came loose, actually popped off the pins. Re-installed them, there were no pins damaged. computer does nothing on monitor, its black when I fire it up, but the fan is running and I can hear the hard drive working, but not like usual. Could my hard drive be jacked, or could the processor have been damaged? can an impact scramble a processor and a hard drive? Is there anything that I can do to test this or do I just need to carry it to a shop? The local shops are a rip-off!

When "you" install teh processor you insert some thermal grease between the proc and the heatsink. You may have broken that seal in addition to jacking the harddrive.
You will probably need a new hard drive. When you drop a hard drive, the needle used to write the data scratches all over the hard drive, thereby making it useless and unreadable.
