For the past week, both Firefox and IE would freeze and hang up.
I did the usual remedies, like updating, virus/malware scans and system restore.
Nothing worked, so I did a full restore using the recovery partition.
As seemed well, except I can't connect to the internet from the wireless adapter or the direct connection CAT5.
The networks are visible, I am connected and have entered the network key.
But, it keeps saying 'local only' for all the connections and will not connect to the internet.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

No internet sounds like a problem with your router. Very basic, check to make sure the lights are working (would be more specific but don't know your router) and maybe reset it. If that doesn't take care of the problem, I don't know.
