that dual core processor does not count as 6ghz, it only counts as two CPU's at 3ghz, thats why your only getting search results which say 3ghz

That's a pretty typical Pentium D. You can't find the price of it because they don't really make those anymore.

Here's what to go with if you're looking for top speed. If you like Intel's either go with an Intel Core 2 duo E8xxx series("Wolfdale") or Intel Core 2 Quad Q9xxx series("Yorkfield"). The best current AMDs are the tri-core AMD Phenom 8xxx series("Toliman"), and the quad-core AMD Phenom 9xxx series ("Agena")

They are yanking your chain. It sounds like an older intel proc with Hyperthreading which would show 2 procs in task manger...it really was a single core but HT was intels way of cheating dual core.

Also, it wouldn't be 5ghz total, even if it was dual core...it would just be 2 3.0ghz cores...they are trying to fool you into thinking it's 6ghz, which you seem to be falling for. Wake up, Intel and AMD are not anywhere near 6ghz Procs.

Oh and move on from this mfg, they are idiots.

This is an OLD processor. It has a single core. You should look into getting at least an Intel Core 2 Duo with 2.0 ghz. Intel did some work and figured out a way to make processors faster while having a lower GHZ rate.

3GHz x 2 means a 3GHz dual core CPU and sum of speed of both cores is 6GHz.
