What version of Windows are you running?
Here are some steps to take.
1. Go to your control panel and click on the system icon.
2. Go to Device Manager
3. See if you have a sound card listed. If there is, but there is an indication of trouble, double click the little yellow ! icon to see what the problem is. If there is no sound card listed, click on the scan for hardware changes up at the top of the device manager window.
More than likely she installed a version of windows over your previous version, and you need to get the sound drivers. Go to your manufacture website and find the specs on your computer and you can get the sound drivers there to reinstall.
Hope this helps
First, get a mac. The speakers should work just fine with Mac OS unless the speakers are just dead. Try hooking up a different set of speakers to see if it is your computer causing the problem. If it is the speakers, then get some new ones, or take them in for repair. if it is your computer, (which would be no surprise to me at all) then upgrade and get a mac! You can get a full functioning one for $999 or just the computer itself (if you already have a display) for $599. Anyway, hope you solve your problem!
you need to find out what kind of sound card you ahve and dowload the driver if it is from dell you can go to dell.com or if it is another company go to them and they will have it if you installed the card your self then go to www.driversguide.com and look for the sound card you have put in there
