Formatting will not remove a boot record unless you are formatting that partition.
To remove that menu, right-click on my computer and select "properties".
From there, select the "advanced" tab and click the "startup and recovery settings" button.
In the top box, there is the list of Operating systems that you can choose from, set the default to your "XP Pro" installation.
Don't worry about the extra tags such as /Fastdetect /noexecute, they are supposed to be there.
Then, uncheck the "Time to display list of operating systems" box and hit "Ok".
Then it will no longer have that list, and will automatically go to the XP pro installation.
