Every time I install a new game and turn of my computer, there's about a 50% chance that windows 7 will not start. It will start up and get as far as the black screen with the windows 7 logo and icon in the middle and it just stops. I've tried waiting for half an hour and that doesn't do anything so all I can do is manually turn off the power and try again. When i turn it back on the OS gives you 2 options: Fix the problem or run normally. When I fix the problem it wants to do a system restore to a time before the game was installed. I did it once and reinstalled the game. Same problem.
Anybody know what I'm talking about or what steps I should take to fix this?

I would go ahead and start with a fresh copy of windows 7 and all the hardware drivers, then start installing your games. There could have been a conflict with software at some point. If you haven't tried, you may want to try cleaning your registry with CCleaner.
PS, the asker plays certain video games under windows, so Mac is not the option, besides Mac used a *nix variant, they don't truly make their own OS. Mac isn't the answer to everything. Windows doesn't run on DOS anymore, just has a DOS emulation!
You have to figure something in the game install is doing this to your system. Your best bet is to go to the game maker's website and find the Support or Help section there. Check to see if they have created some kind of patch to use for the problem or if they have published steps to take to get around it. If not, email them about your problem and see what they can do.
Meanwhile, run a full virus check, defragment your hard drive and run any other diagnostics software you have to make sure nothing else is going on.
It sounds to me like whenever you install said game, it is installing updated video card drivers along with the game. This would be the ONLY reason the game install would ask you to restart the computer.
Next time it happens, restart the computer and hit the "F8" key before the windows logo comes up. Done correctly, it will bring up an advanced boot options menu. Select "Enable low resolution video" and hit enter twice.
Then set the display settings to the native resolution of your monitor.
Get a Mac
The have a real OS not just a GUI over top of DOS.
