ok my son got arrested about a year ago for shoplifting at target and the security people gave him a juvenile civil citation about two or three days ago he went to a juvenile office and talked to a lady about why he did what he did after about an hour they walked out and we went home without having to do anything like pay a fine or having him do community service so does this mean this is still on his record or not
Update:well he didn't have to go in front of a judge and he doesn't have a parole officer all he had to do is talk to a lady like a guidance councilor

The Civil Citation program allows law enforcement officers the option of issuing a civil citation instead of arresting the juvenile.
Usually the parents have to sign forms, community service is involved, etc.
This sounds unusual that you all did not have to do much of anything.
Sometimes - misunderstandings happens .. and instructions slip through the cracks .. SO! .. it might be wise, and of utmost importance that you, as a parent, contact them personally - and ask if your son has to do anything?? .. and if he is through .. as in completed whatever programs, fines, community service, etc?? Also - don't hesitate to ask for a complete explanation about your son's records .. like .. will he have a record .. or will this be forgiven & go completely away .. with NO record at all.
If you don't know these things for positive .. then you still may have legal issues hanging over your head .. which may rise up one day and give many troubles for you. If these matters are not resovled, and you THINK they are resolved .. and if comes to pass later on that they are not resolved, the law will not believe that you thought it was over .. not knowing is no excuse.
Just face it 'head-on'. The best way would be to probabaly go to the office to talk with them .. for the best explanation.
Will stay on his juvenile record, but when he becomes an adult he starts over again and his adult record will stay with him the rest of his life regarding criminal action's. Hopefully your son learned a lesson while he was a juvenile and does not have anymore shoplifting troubles! Crime committed as a juvenile is a warning there is something wrong and action must be taken to correct bad-behavior! Your son just needs to put it behind him and become a better, more responsible citizen in the future!
If no police were involved, I would say there is no record. Security cops at the stores are not real police. I would check with your local department to be sure, but almost always you would have to go before a judge if it was filed.
I am not sure...that depends on the judge...Sometimes there are things that show up and sometimes they don't. Does he have parole officer you can contact?
it will stay on his record
