Michael jacksons attorney can get up to 4 years, so what exactly does that mean are all the options? who decides? what are the parameters, I mean if the crime is punishable by 2 to 10yrs, who decides? and is that mandatory? or can they come back and say "well we'd just like to put him on probation for 2 years". is that possible?
Update:The whole MJ story was just an example, i'm not concerned with speculation about his sentence. i'm interested in the process, how it works, who decides, what the parameters are and if they are flexible

He will probably be reprimanded to the County Jail because of prison overcrowding in the state, and more likely than not, will NOT spend the full time of the sentence as well.
