No they do not hurt. The procedure to place them can be a little uncomfortable but not painful.
They drill a screw into the jaw bone and once that is in place and integrates with the bone they place a crown on the abutment that is attached to the screw.
You're numb so you don't feel anything. Once the crown is placed you have a permanent tooth that should last a lifetime. It will be indistinguishable from your other teeth and nobody will be able to tell it's not your real tooth.
I have a dental inplant for over 3 years and it does not hurt. You are only 13 and have further growth. I would ask the dentist about the procedure for implants. Mine feels like its a natural tooth and I am glad I had an implant put in.
U r just 13, ask ur dentist if u r a right candidate for dental implants. U would be needing a space maintainer till u complete ur growth, that is till u r about 18 yr. Old.
