so about about 4 years ago opened a phone account for an ex friend of mine under my name.... so about 2 weeks ago i was at my moms house and i saw that a fido bill came in and so i opened in and i noticed that the bill hasnt been paid for a couple of months so i called fido and told them i wanted to cancel the service and they told me i had to pay 490!! and i asked y ... the contract shouldnt been done by now, and they told me that the contract was renewed 8 months ago.. and i fought them on the phone saying i did not give anyone authorization to renew the contract, they told me they send out the phone and everything, so my ex friend called in and renewed the contract without letting me know, she obviously knew my name, date of birth and postal code, andplus added herself under the account for authorization.. so i got pissed off and i told fido i aint paying it because that was not me and i did not give any1 authorization.. so they said they couldnt do anything about it, is this a good case to fight since it wasnt me that called and they just allowed anyone to be authorized under my account???

You don't have a case, because you don't have any damages. It's ultimately your responsibility because you opened the account. You should have closed, or transfered it when the relationship ended. The phone company is not responsible to keep up with your relationships.
If you have any case at all it's against your friend for committing fraud, but that is a criminal, not a civil matter.
You lost all ground when you opened an account for your friend.
Sucks for you.
It was opened in your name, with your knowledge. Years have elapsed. It's way too late to repudiate it now. It's now yours.
Demand the money from your whore ex friend.
