They make ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world
Please note that ICE is a totally different story (DO NOT DRIVE ON ICE)
Also know that there are two wheel drive vehicles as well as four wheel drive vehicles but ALL OF THEM are four wheel stop vehicles.
All wheel drive will help assist you for traction in the snow but will it slide while braking just as easily as your Lancer does.
I think this past winter sucked for almost every car. Getting a 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive is certainly an option, but expensive for 3 months of the year. The front wheel drive vehicles typically do just as well when driving on common roads. Snow tires will help with traction, but the best alternative is to let some air out of your tire so that there is a little more rubber surface touching the snow. If your car calls for 40lbs PSI, then run them at 32lbs PSI. Remember to inflate when the snow is gone. You should not be traveling fast enough for tire pressure to hurt.
Most importantly, don't listen to William. You do NOT want to air DOWN the tires in snow. You want to keep them at their set pressure, or, if anything, OVER inflate them. Why? Smaller contact patch means more pressure per square inch to bite into and through the snow to the hard ground beneath it. This means more traction. Airing down reduces traction and control. Otherwise, yes, winter tires make a huge difference.
Yeah, 2 depressing winters in a row could make each guy or woman think of approximately an SUV. yet Murphy's regulation says that in case you purchase an SUV, next wintry climate would be common, precise? wintry climate tires could make a distinction. Tire chains for the worst of the worst days could help, too. a procedures extra value-effective than a clean SUV. yet Spring is on the way, so positioned off a determination until next Autumn.
Good snow tires help, but on a small fwd car you need 4 snow tires. Very unusual winter, wait until next year to see what happens. snow tires are winter tires and will burn off very rapidly on dry road
