The boy is Jewish, but hasn't practiced the rituals or observed the holy days in a number of years. I don't even think we OWN a menorrah. Being anti-theist, I don't celebrate any of the religious observances of the winter season beyond acknowledging the passing of the solstice and on the traditional day of the "Return of Light and Life" on the 25th....I might light a scented candle.
P.S. Unless I miss my guess, today is Hannukah. Happy Hannukah.
EDIT: Just checked the calendar, and I'm off by a day. Hannukah begins tomorrow night at midnight.
There is no law that says Christmas Trees have to be called anything. You can call them whatever you like, as can those that want to call the Christmas Tree a holiday tree and say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. However your analogy is weak, since Christmas tree contains the name of the holiday and Menorah means lamp. If it was called a Hanukkah menorah, you would have a better point.
Well I'm Jewish, so we have a real menorah (candles and all that jazz) and an electric one to put by the window. But we also have a little Hanukkah bush (fake miniature tree) that we decorate with Jewish ornaments and cute things like spongebob and power ranger ornaments as well. We haven't had time to put up lights this year but most of the time we have blue and white lights in the front yard with an inflatable snowman sporting a blue top hat with a blue scarf.
If my ex had his way he'd cut the last tree on earth to use as a Christmas tree.
Christmas is HIS holiday and he will stop at nothing to make sure everything is put in its proper place for the holidays. It's actually quite fascinating to watch in a serial killer psycho slasher movie kind of way.
Yeah she does. I'd be happy with a plastic tree or even nothing. What can I say, I don't go in for window dressing. It makes her happy so cool. And she started because my mom is Jewish.

We don't because we are not Jewish. We do put up artificial trees and trim the branches off of the bird's nest spruce out back to keep that tidy.
EDIT **Poor Clint, chin up little buddy, things will get better.**

I decorated a Christmas branch. Hard times - I couldn't afford the whole tree :\
No....we are both Christians not jews...and trees are trees they grow back...
Well, we put up an artificial tree.... how's that?
HIYA REEF!!!!!
