I will have to be taking a foreign language class next year in both semesters. So I'm not really interested in learning French or Spanish. But I heard that you dont have to learn how to speak in Latin class. You just write or whatever because its a dead language. So what exactly do you do in Latin class?

Of course it depends to some extent on the teacher and on the text book (which the teacher may have had little voice in choosing). Most at least focus on speaking to the extent of making sure their students pronounce the language correctly. Some go a bit beyond that, but I doubt that many, if any, actually conduct class in Latin, as is usually done with modern languages.
In a typical Latin class, we read aloud, translate, and do exercises, which usually involve more translation--English to Latin as well as Latin to English. Along the way, you usually learn a bit about Roman history and culture.
There are a few methods within the web that may aid you study the language. Also, simply by dwelling some of the latin speakme individuals you'll study the language quicker than seeking to take a path. Good success!

So far as books which may have movies, the books aren't limited by a set time frame and so can go into far more depth a feature span movie could. Sometimes movies finish up very different from the book
we mostly watch I, Claudius and talk about random stuff like our teacher's cat.
