he hasn't even sampled the appetizer! John McCain is a hero not for getting shot down but for lasting thru the Hanoi Hilton, he could of come home since his dad was the top Admiral , but refused to do so. All of us who served in Viet Nam and any other war for our country deserve respect as your freedom comes with the price we vets have paid
General Clark, being a former military man supporting a non-military and inexperienced candidate for president, is merely trying to justify Obama's qualifications for President. The only way to do that is to belittle John McCain's extensive experience.
This is what voters have to understand and really notice. Obama serves up rhetoric and naivety, McCain brings experience and ethics.
Well, if McCain is going to make such a big deal out of his service, then he has to expect it to be questioned. John Kerry's service was not considered sacrosanct. Republicans wore purple bandaids to make fun of Kerry's Purple Hearts and also denigrated and QUESTIONED Kerry's service.
Personally, I liked hearing someone of Clark's stature saying what I have always thought that Grampy McSame's tax payer funded education at Annapolis, where he graduated almost at the bottom of his class should be publicized as well as his poor showing as a naval aviator and POW. He crashed many planes, got captured, and spilled his guts under torture. How does this rise to the level of hero? He isn't. He served and thank you but he isn't a HERO!!
What he said makes sense just because you were a POW doesn't a President make. It is the other civil service things that John McCain has done that makes him a good fit for President.
I think he gave McCain the bird. He just pointed out that McCain had no command experience that would translate into executive skills. He didn't even mention his last place finish at the academy or that he crashed 5 planes before he got captured. So what are those skills he brings to the office again?
I have yet to hear that he felt he had said anything wrong. I guess I don't care about General Clark but as I listened to his explanation all I could think to myself is what is he trying to accomplish? I mean okay so you say McCain isn't qualified due to his war experience, it doesn't make Obama any more qualified, if anything it just makes his lack of experience that much more apparent.
Well in itself his remarks are not terrible but combined with the fact that he praised John Kerry's service as a reason to elect to Commander-in-Chief well then........

The choice should be clear!

No, but all of those who never served, should shut up. Clark was right, there is more than Military services. What about everyone else?
He hasn't even made a good start. This whole thing is entertaining though-everything Clark says McCain has too little of...Obama has none of.
What exactly was said that was wrong?
I fail to see how getting captured and wrecking 5 aircraft qualifies McCain.
I applaud him for his service, but it is in NO WAY a qualification for the office of the President.
We seen that in the buffoon that currently holds the position, a man that CLEARLY went AWOL during time of war and STILL embraced by the G O P !!!
