Dual Core 3.0ghz or Quad Core 2.2ghz?
I have 500$ and I was thinking about upgrading my Desktop. But it occurred to me that a Laptop would be better for school. Both of these laptops are exactly the same.
One has a AMD Phenom II x2 3.0ghz -430$ 15.6 LCD
The other has a AMD Phenom II x4 2.2ghz -599$ 17.3 LCD
Which one should I get? I mean the Dual Core would be faster since most applications don't support quad correct? Or am I wrong? Also should I just upgrade my PC? Give me your opinion below thanks

Well...it really depends. You are correct, most games only support Single Core, some newer ones Dual Core and more Modern Games support Quad Core. I would say get the Dual Core. Most modern games only use Dual Core, and if you play other games the 3 GHZ will run better. Anyways, maybe you do not do gaming, then the 3 GHZ will be more beneficial.
I would say go for the 3.0 GHZ Dual Core, most people never use the Quad Core anyways, EXCEPT if you do a lot of Multitasking, but make sure you have a lot of RAM too.
It depends on the User, if you use very intensive applications and do not multitask too much, the Dual Core is better. If you tend to run 100 small programs at once like Skype and Paint, then the Quad Core will be MUCH better.
