I had an emachines. It started acting up. It would continuously restart by itself, i am assuming windows was not loading up as it should. Anyways! I reinstalled windows, it stayed on! Once i installed the emachines files like the audio drivers and such the computer started acting up again. I have since given up on it, what could be wrong?

it could be ur motherboard/ bios/ harddrive and anything in between. my advise is try a different operating system for now. becaus eit might be your operating system. WINDOWS does blow u know... sometimes drivers made for windows corrupt ur operating system. Wanna try something different?TRY linux all you need is an empty CD , a CDRW drive, and ur good to go. i would recommend trying out www.linuxmint.com download their main edition called linux mint 8.. and burn it on a cd using IMGBURN ( can be found on www.imgburn.com) just download the .iso file. open it in imgburn and burn it on a cd. put it in ur CD drive and boot from it. youll be booting into teh live CD so nothing will be installed untill you click on INSTALL on teh desktop icon. try it out you will love it. to learn more about linux go to www.ubuntu.com and look around. linuxmint is based on ubuntu but is a bit more user friendly and comes loaded with everything you need out of teh box. including java/flash and everything else. try it you wont regret it.

dont know what acting up is. maybe bsod or wonky windows features.
crack open your case and look for bad transistors. that is what your problem is.
usualy they are tipped over, black stuff is coming out, etc.
long story short, you need a new motherboard.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
