i was thinking of getting a new engine for my 1.6 el and was wondering what would be the best swap ?
i want it to be automatic, everybody tells me to get a manual and I know its not as great with an automatic but don'tnt really race, its just my project car.
I have a aem intake, getting lowering springs and shocks next summer along with new exhaust. If it is possible with an automatic can you please tell me what would be the best engine. && also what would be a good exhaust and lowering springs & shocks. Thank you.

You already have a d16y8 which is about the best d-series your gonna get.. I would personally boost it, because its alot easier than a motor swap and will cost about the same as the alternative of swapping into a b-series motor.
Now take this into consideration while your at it though.. The auto trans wont hold any more power than it has for to long. It will tear it to shreds. and this goes for most honda auto trans, they just dont hold power well and it will fail pretty fast.
This is why people keep telling you to go manual, because you will break your trans if you try beating on it hard since they cant take it.
Of course you could do a k swap if you had 5 grand laying around, but I know if I had 5grand laying around, I wouldnt drop a k into a acura el, I'd prolly just buy an entire Rsx or something like that, lol.
First of all, there's a saying when it comes to Honda tuning.
Good and Fast = Not Cheap.
Good and Cheap = Not fast.
Fast and Cheap = Not good.
In other words, unless you've got a good amount of money to spend, don't tune your Honda.
Now. Although I don't recommend swapping into an Acura(because of the fact that they're amazing cars alone) If you wanted to swap a powerful motor into that car, I would recommend a JDM Honda K20A Motor. Those motors are DOHC i-VTEC, and come stock with over 200 Wheel Horse Power. These motors come factory with a manual transmission, but you should be able to find one that's an Auto, since they were put in a lot of Accords.(which a lot were auto)
For an exhaust, there's nothing better than Greddy. Greddy has amazing sound, and gives you a 1-5 increase in horsepower.
Finally, for springs and shocks, I'd go with Skunk2 or TEIN. Either way you can't go wrong.
For your parts, either order them straight from the source, or go to www.passwordjdm.com or www.inlinefour.com
Good luck!
