After I had horrible acne, my dermatoligist suggested chemical peels. The 1st chemical peel I got, helped with about 30% of the problem. The 2nd chemical peel vanished 50% of all the redness. I got 1 more and my face was clear clear clear :]. Acne sucks...
You should find out if it's a medical problem, (like Rocacia) before you try to treat it. If you have eczema or something like that, you could make it worse, if you put the wrong product on it.

i av severe eczema and neutrogena face cream and it cleared within half a day!!
its called rosasia. just use foundation. you cant get rid of it unless its a rash. use moisterizer. and drink water
