It really depends on whether your mother fights the issue or not. If she fights it and there is no evidence of neglect (involvement from Child Protective Services etc...) then they most likely won't get custody. The only other factor is your age. Because you are 17 and almost an adult they might take your wishes into consideration but since it's a friend and not family it might not even be considered.
