I dont exactly know why or how this happened, but somehow this year going to an ivy leage college has become pretty much top priority for me. Some info about me is that my gpa is currently about 3.5, i am on a soccer club which makes me go to different tournaments every summer, i am working as an intern in a research lab in columbia, I am a freshman, i play soccer in the fall wrestling in the winter and probably baseball in the spring. Some more info is that i will probably be working part time at the internship during next school year. And I am an umpire for baseball and a ref. for soccer. Am i on track and what else should I be doing to get onto a top rate school

My source says your extracurricular activities should be focused on the things you are passionate about and have been involved with for years (the longer the involvement with your favorite activities, the better). Colleges don’t really care what your activities are, just as long as there is in-depth, long-term involvement. Because college admission officers prefer students with long-term commitment to their activities, they look for students who work their way up into leadership roles. If you are involved in an activity you are passionate about for years, the expected progression is to go from simple participation to leadership. Being a leader is very appealing to admission officers because colleges need leaders in every field of interest.
