Yeah, its pretty bad - I mean I think even the most beginner cooks could figure out for themselves to get a jar of sauce, add some pasta and veggies and woo hoo, you have a quick and easy meal!
It is also VERY similar to Nigella Express in that regard, although, probably with fewer calories ;-)
Nobody can be bothered to cook any more so they're not going to watch a programme showing you how. Now Delia opening a tin - that should put the viewing figures up. There's only so many times you can watch repeats of Top Gear on Dave.
NO lets face it we all cheat sometimes when we cook ,might as well learn how to do it better , I personally say thanks Delia ...like cooking but hate the hard work .chopping scraping mincing blending ,its the end result that matters ..not the hard grind of spices in mortar ......busy person so it helps ...even the best chefs cheat a little
Glad I've seen this question, Yes she has and it smacks of money-grabbing. John Peel was right when he said she was the most un-cool person he'd ever met. Agree, she is patronising, and a little scary, like the Kate Adie of cookery!
It's a shame because her website's actually really good and the descriptions in the recipes are extremely precise and helpful
She'll like take some fish for example, like one in batter that any normal person would just cook straight away and there she is, rubbing stuff onto and putting stuff on top. Before you know it there's this slab of frozen fish on a tray covered in all sorts of crap!? That's not cheating it's just adding stuff on.
She isn't actually doing anything different to what she would've done in her old programmes. Instead of making scones non-stop like she used to do, she's buying pre-paked scones. See my point?
She's trying to compete with Nigella Lawson. She realises her cooking techniques are outdated but just can't grasp the reality of modern "express" cooking the way Nigella can.
She's trying to teach 90% of the population what they always practice. I could teach her a thing or two how to cheat at cooking, and teach her a lesson in it.
She already stated that her recipes are not for everyday cooking, that they are for busy and hectic days. God know I have plenty of those!!!
Still, I don't find any of her recipes interesting in the least ,or children friendly, and as for the prices of the ingredients for one of her recipes, as may as well eat out.
