It sounds like the laser pickup is not focusing properly. If you have only experienced this with one disk, try another one. If a different disk works your disk is dirty or damaged. If More than one disk has been tried your drive is bad, or has a bad connection. If it is in a multi-bay and can be removed try removing & replacing it (Don't forget to stop any necessary services). A paper clip can usually be inserted in a small hole on the tray to manually eject a disk, and sometimes a miss adjusted laser will read if it's upside down. Try turning the laptop upside down. It's not going to fix the drive, but if it works upside down the FOK (Focus OK) signal is the culprit. The laser isn't able to find focus. Good luck.
most laptop CD/dvd players have a pin hole ejector. Use a paper clip and press it into the hole. This will press the ejector and open the drive.
in keeping with what you're saying. it quite is not user-friendly to make certain what the issue is. you probably did not say regardless of while you're using extreme velocity or dial or instant. while you're using a instant internet, it would desire to be sign barrier subject. while you're using extreme velocity, it would desire to be spyware subject, if dial up, might desire to be bandwidth subject. in case you have been using you computer ok in the previous. i don't think of it quite is computer subject. Modem skill surge subject is likewise achieveable.
I think you should go to where youchange settings on your computer.
