Don't report it to your auto insurance company, they'll raise your rates. But do take it to your mechanic and tell him/her what happened and ask them to put truck up on their lift to check and see that everything is okay under the vehicle. You may not have anything wrong and you are blessed, as is the poodle. But if there is a problem, it's best to get it fixed pronto. They might laugh about the accident, but it's really not a laughing matter. There should be more folks like you in this world who care about animals.

It probably just glanced off the side or something to that degree. you and the dogs timing/positions where "just right" so no canine injury occured. I will say I wouldnt define this as an accident by any means though. An accident would be a moronic driver of a UPS semi truck rear ending your sentra cuz he couldnt judge distances properly. This sort of this just so happened to me last week.
